I Need Advice on Diagbox Compatibility with PSA Models

Hello there,

I am new to using Diagbox for diagnosing and troubleshooting PSA vehicles; and I could use some advice on its compatibility with newer models; particularly from 2015 onwards. I own a 2016 Peugeot 308 and I am trying to figure out if the version of Diagbox I have (V7.83) will work effectively with this model.

I have read some conflicting information online about which versions are best suited for cars produced after 2015. Some people suggest upgrading to V8.xx or even V9.xx for newer cars; but I am not sure if this is necessary or if my current version will suffice for basic diagnostics; fault reading; and coding.

Additionally; I would appreciate if anyone could clarify the potential risks of using an older version of Diagbox on newer cars. I have heard that certain updates are required to avoid bricking the cars ECU or causing issues with certain modules; and I definitely want to avoid that.

Lastly; if it is indeed better to upgrade, could anyone guide me on the best way to do this? Should I aim for a clean install of the latest version or is there a specific upgrade path I should follow from V7.83?
